MYO/ Trophy Stall Inter-Jamaat Softball Cricket Competition Sees Increase In Team Participation…
The highly anticipated MYO/ Trophy Stall Inter-Jamaat Softball Cricket Competition has commenced and seen some of the top softball teams among the many Masjids in Guyana battle for supremacy at the MYO Ground, Woolford Avenue, Thomas Lands, Georgetown.

Speaking with Guyana Times Sport, Sports Committee Chairman and Senior Vice President Imran Ally stated that the goal of the competition was to bring out the youths to do something meaningful, as from this tournament they would be able to have clean recreational fun. Fostering brotherhood through sports is the tournament’s main objective. Ally went on to state that the tournament was usually held at least two times per year and would usually have intense action from the first ball bowled. Ally also noted that he is ecstatic that Trophy Stall which is headed by proprietor Ramesh Sunich can come on board one again to support this exclusive tournament.
Upon the announcement of the tournament, ten teams registered which was two more than the last time the tournament was held. The teams in the competition are LBI A Masjid, LBI B Masjid, New Mosque, New Amsterdam Masjid, MYO, Cornelia Ida Masjid, Leonora Masjid, Tuschen Train Station Masjid, Hague Masjid and Diamond New Scheme Masjid. This increase of teams has seen new Masjids such as four from the West Coast and one all the way from Berbice.
Today’s fixtures will see the action continue at the MYO Ground, Woolford Avenue, Thomas Lands with 4 matches. The first match will commence at 9:00 am which will see MYO see off LBI B, while at 11:00 am LBI B will duke it out with New Amsterdam Masjid. At 13:00 hrs New Amsterdam will lock horns with LBI A and at 15:00 hrs New Amsterdam will take on Diamond New Scheme to culminate the day of action.
