4 nabbed with guns, ammo on $800,000 bail

Four men, including two foreign nationals who were nabbed with illegal guns and ammunition in Georgetown on Independence Day were on Friday charged and released on $200,000 bail each.
Charged are Antonio Fraser, a driver of Lot 94 D’Urban Street, Georgetown; Tahj Fraser of 47 Norton Street, Lodge, Georgetown; Keith Cains, a labourer of Lot 22 D’Urban Street, Lodge, Georgetown, and Brandon Barker, a taxi driver of 85 D’Urban Street, Lodge, Georgetown.
The men appeared before Principal Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts. Antonio Fraser faced a separate charge which alleged that on May 26, 2021, at Main Street, Georgetown, he had a 9mm Glock-19 pistol along with a matching round of ammunition in his possession when he was not the holder of a firearm licence.
Meanwhile, Tahj Fraser, Cains, and Barker were jointly charged. It is alleged that on May 26, 2021, at Brickdam, Georgetown, they had a .32 Taurus pistol and two matching rounds of ammunition in their possession when they were not the holder of a firearm licence.
The men pleaded not guilty to the charges. As a condition of bail, they were instructed to report to the Brickdam Police Station and lodge their passports with the court until the hearing and determination of their trial. Their next court date is June 25, 2021.
The Police in a statement said that the men were arrested in the wee hours of Independence Day. At around 03:40h, a Police rank acting on information went to Main Street, Georgetown, in the vicinity of Tower Suites where he made contact with Antonio Fraser.

The Police rank identified himself and requested to conduct a search on Antonio Fraser to which he agreed. During the search, one 9mm Glock-19 Pistol along with one matching round of ammunition was found in the crotch of his pants. As a result, the defendant was arrested and escorted to the police station.
Meanwhile, acting on further information, at about 04:30h the said day, Police ranks went to an
an area on the Brickdam Public Road in the vicinity of St Stanislaus College, where three men were seen in a white Toyota Axio motor car bearing registration number PYY 5049.
As such, a search was carried out on their persons but nothing illegal was found. During a search of the motor car, Police ranks unearthed a .32 Taurus pistol with two matching rounds of ammunition
under the driver’s seat. They, too, were arrested and escorted to the police station. (G1)
