4 new COVID cases detected in 24 hours

The Health Ministry on Monday reported that only four new COVID-19 cases were detected in a 24-hour period.
New statistics released by the Ministry showed that one patient is in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 78 persons in home isolation, one in institutional isolation and 16 in institutional quarantine. Deaths have remained at 1228.
There are 62,112 recoveries from the 29,192 males and 34,228 females who tested positive. COVID-19 tests have amounted to 591,338 since the virus was first detected here.
Most recent vaccination statistics show that over 439,600 or 85.7 per cent of adults have taken a first dose and of that amount, more than 338,700 or 66 per cent are fully vaccinated.
For adolescents between the ages of 12 and 17, approximately 34,400 or 47.3 per cent of them have received their first dose, while some 25,200 or 34.6 per cent of them are fully immunised.
In addition, booster shots have surpassed 61,300.
Since the introduction of COVID-19 vaccines in the region 15 months ago, more than 66 per cent of people in Latin America and the Caribbean have been fully vaccinated.
Commenting on this journey, PAHO Director, Dr Carissa Etienne said, “This seminal achievement is, however, not sufficient…There is still a long way to go to ensure that all populations at risk receive the doses that they need for protection. The inequitable access to COVID-19 vaccines, and widespread vaccine hesitancy, have unmasked concerning fault lines along our regional landscape.”

Global figures show that almost 507.5 million people have tested positive for the virus and 6.22 million have died. In the Americas, more than 152.5 million confirmed cases have been reported with over 2.7 million deaths.
