45 healthcare workers graduate from Washington University

In an effort to enhance the services provided by healthcare workers throughout Guyana, 45 healthcare workers graduated from the Washington University E-Learning Program.
During the graduation ceremony on Friday, Health Minister Frank Anthony, in congratulating the graduates, emphasised the need for continuous learning to enhance patient care services and achieve better outcomes at health facilities across Guyana.
“I think for us in the health sector, we need to be constantly learning. If we don’t keep ourselves updated constantly, then we can have problems. I want to encourage people to keep doing it because it is going to help you to widen your horizon and to be able to better perform at whatever job you are doing in the Ministry,” Anthony stated.

He further emphasised that with the ministry having identified 117 interventions to be implemented at the primary healthcare level, therefore, all healthcare providers must be equipped with the necessary tools and provide a conducive working environment to ensure positive patient care outcomes.
Meanwhile, Chargé d’affaires of the United States Embassy, Adrienne Galanek, highlighted that the USAIDs have thus far invested $189 million in Guyana since 2004 to support HIV prevention, testing, care, and treatment services.
The ceremony was held for 45 healthcare workers who completed several cohorts of courses in either Project Management, Policy Management and Advocacy for Global Health, Economic Evaluation in Global Health, Fundamentals of Implementation Science, Leadership and Management in Health and Monitoring and Evaluation, all from the University of Washington.
The courses form part of a capacity-building initiative funded by USAID. The beneficiaries who are from both the public and private health sectors were certified yesterday, allowing them to better contribute to the evolving healthcare industry.
Additionally, over four hundred healthcare practitioners and providers have completed the courses since its establishment in 2021. (G2)
