47 new COVID-19 cases recorded

The Ministry of Health is reporting that Guyana has recorded 47 new cases of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

This now takes the total number of confirmed cases to 1750.

Based on the figures released, 14 persons are now housed in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) while 1088 recoveries have been recorded.

Of the total cases, 862 are males while 888 are females. The Ministry claims that 50 persons are in Institutional Isolation while 547 are in Home Isolation.

77 persons are in Institutional Quarantine and the death toll has risen to 49 according to the Ministry. However, the Guyana Times has been able to confirm two additional COVID-19 related deaths taking the death toll to 51.
