48-hour warning issued for removal of vehicles from parapets, road shoulders 

Vehicle owners in Grove, East Bank, Demerara, have been warned that derelict vehicles left along road shoulders will be removed and seized if owners fail to comply with removal notices.
In a social media post on Tuesday, the Public Works Ministry urged persons to note that it continues to issue removal notices and strongly reminded the public that road shoulders are not designated storage spaces and must remain clear for the safety of all road users.
According to the Ministry, as a standard procedure, failure to remove these vehicles will result in the Ministry stepping in to have them removed. It further warned that the property of owners who continue to relocate their vehicles from one location to another and/or disregard removal notices will be seized.
The Ministry also noted that neither it nor the Government is interested in permanently withholding the property.
Further, the Ministry advised that all costs associated with the removal of vehicles will be the sole responsibility of the defaulting owner. To reclaim any seized property, owners are required to visit the Ministry and settle the outstanding removal costs before the items can be uplifted.

Meanwhile, the Georgetown Mayor and City Council (GMCC) have given 48 hours’ notice to the owners of all vehicles currently parked, abandoned or otherwise occupying the Council’s parapets to remove such vehicles immediately.
The GMCC said failure to remove the vehicles within the stipulated 48-hour period will result in the Council taking the necessary enforcement action, including the removal and impounding of the vehicles, without further notice.
Owners are urged to comply within the stated period to avoid enforcement action and any associated costs.
