4th Rupununi Music & Arts Festival moves to Manari Ranch, Lethem

After three years at Rock View and following discussions with colleagues in Government, sponsors, local residents and the Festival Team, the 4th Annual Rupununi Music and Art Festival will be held at Manari Ranch, near Lethem, Region Nine (Upper Takatu-Upper Essequibo) this time around. The three-day event is scheduled for November 10-12.
This will enable the committee to promote the new site into an eco-friendly cultural space over the next few years.
The vision is to create a ‘Festival Village’ which in time, will become a functional cultural oasis, offering a range of cultural, educational, arts and sporting opportunities and become a resource for the region and the country, throughout the year.
Also, with more hotels and rooms available in Lethem, it will provide the opportunity for potential customers to commute to the Festival daily, if they wish. The organising committee will however, also develop a camping site at Manari.
There is much to be done in terms of infrastructure on the new site but with continued support, the Festival will undoubtedly ‘add value’ to Guyana and the region and in the longer-term create tangible economic, educational and tourism benefits for the country.
