Cattle farmer arrested with illegal gun, ammo

Police in ‘B’ Division (Berbice) have arrested a 56-year-old cattle farmer of Letter Kenny Village, Corentyne, after an unlicensed firearm and matching ammunition were found in his home.

According to a police report, acting on information received, ranks swooped down on the suspect’s two-storey home on Wednesday at about 15:15hrs and conducted a search, during which an unlicensed .32 pistol and five matching rounds of live ammunition were found hidden under a suitcase in the lower flat.

The suspect is being processed for court.

And the Guyana Police Force is, in an advisory, calling on holders of firearm and driver’s licences, who have not yet renewed same for this year, to do so immediately.
