5 hospitalised after Essequibo Coast collision

Five persons are currently hospitalised at the Suddie Public Hospital, Region Two (Pomeroon/Supenaam) after the vehicle they were travelling in crashed into a trench at La Union.

Eyewitnesses report that three adults including the driver, and two children sustained injuries.
According to information reaching Guyana Times, the car was travelling south when the driver lost control and ended up in the trench. The incident reportedly occurred around 16:00h on Monday.
On hearing the loud impact, several persons living in La Union converged on the scene and rescued the persons who were then rushed to the hospital by Police.
One resident alleges that the driver was speeding.
“All I saw a black vehicle speeding then suddenly ended up in the trench, the children were then pulled out and sent to the hospital”, another eyewitness revealed.
Police were informed and immediately responded.
Investigations into the accident are ongoing.
