Home News $513.3M in seized cocaine, ganja destroyed
A “joint drug-destruction” operation was carried out by the Guyana Police Force and the Customs Anti- Narcotics Unit (CANU) at Yarrowkabra, Linden-Soesdyke Highway.
The exercise was carried out on Saturday, November 10, 2018 between 08:30h and 11:30h.
During the operation, representatives from the Public Security Ministry, the National Anti-Narcotics Agency (NANA) and the Guyana Forensic Science Laboratory (GFSL) were present to witness the destruction.
A total of 132 kilograms of cocaine and 440 kilograms of cannabis were destroyed by the Police, and 345 kilograms of cocaine and 554 kilograms of cannabis were destroyed by CANU.
Overall, the agencies destroyed 477 kilograms of cocaine and 994 kilograms of cannabis, with a combined street value of $513,310,940.
The drugs that were destroyed were tested by members of the GFSL before being burnt by fire.
