Hand-in-Hand Insurance on board lucrative tapeball tournament

As the month of December quickly approaches and the end of the year draws near, tapeball fans will witness the first ever “Pure Entertainment” seven-a-side tapeball tournament, which will be held on December 2 and 9 at the Cultural Centre Tarmac.

The Hand-in-Hand Group of Insurance Companies has pledged support for this tournament, which will be contested on a six-over-per-side basis, with the winning team carting off the grand prize of $120,000 while the runners-up would receive $60,000.
Apart from the team winnings, individual performances with the bat will also be rewarded with cash prizes. The man-of-the series would, moreover, be pocketing $5,000 plus a bat; scorer of the “fastest 40 of the tournament” will receive $5,000 plus a bat; while the “Smash of the Match” would enable batsmen to win $1,000 every time they hit the “HIT ME” target.
But the giveaways are not confined to only the players, as spectators will also be given a chance to participate in a bowl-off for the chance to win cash prizes.
Former national youth player and now organiser, Dexter George, in a statement said, “Our objective is not just to bring together tapeball cricket teams, but fans and spectators, to have fun and to be a part of the excitement; as we want to use this tournament to give back to those loyal patrons of the sport”.
Some of the teams participating in the tournament are Eccles All-Stars, Village Rams, Tarmac All-Stars, Young Guns, and Rising Stars. BV and Providence SC have also signalled their interest in participating in the competition.
Apart from the on-field action, there will be barbeque on sale.
Teams are kindly asked to contact George on 671-0458 to register on or before November 30. The registration fee has been set at $10,000 per team.
