6 arrested for traffic violations in Region 6

Six persons were arrested on Sunday evening for a number of traffic offences including two for driving under the influence of alcohol in Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne).
Police stated that 21-year-old Aaron Dindyal of Line Path Corentyne and 55-year-old Boodnarain Lall of Queenstown, Corentyne, Berbice, were charged after their alcohol levels were above the legal limit of alcohol consumption. Both men will make their appearance at the Springlands Magistrate Court on May 11 and May 4, 2021, respectively.
In addition, the Police also charged two persons for driving an unlighted motor vehicle and another two for driving an uncertified motor vehicle.
Earlier in the year, ranks of the Guyana Police Force Regional Division Six (East Berbice-Corentyne) arrested a total of 147 persons for various traffic violations. Also, 181 persons were issued with tickets and seven summonses were administered by several stations within the region.
Police in that region have been conducting several road exercises throughout the region with the aim of reducing disobedience of the traffic laws
As recent as last month, 29 persons who were in breach of traffic and road laws were arrested during three separate enforcement exercises.
Of this total, 25 drivers were arrested within the Regional Division 4C particularly at Beterverwagting and the Vigilance Police Stations.
During the operation at Beterverwagting, Police arrested eight drivers for breach of condition of road service while one driver was arrested for the prohibition of a tinted motor vehicle.
In addition, at Vigilance, seven drivers were arrested for the prohibition of tinted motor vehicle, while two were arrested for failure to produce their driver’s licence.
One person was also arrested for poor maintenance of motor vehicle, another for untidy conductor, along with two for overloading and one for amendment of entry. Two persons were also arrested for breach of prescribed fitness.
