63-year-old attacked, robbed by armed bandits

A 63-year-old man was on Tuesday attacked and robbed by four armed men whilst heading home in the vicinity of Freeman Street, La Penitence, Georgetown.
Reports are that at about 06:10h on the day in question, the man was confronted by the perpetrators, who were on two motorcycles with unknown number plates.
The pillion riders of both motorcycles dismounted and held the victim at gunpoint, but the elderly man reportedly put up a resistance. This led to one of the perpetrators hitting the victim to his face with a gun. He then discharged a round in the air, thus causing the victim to sustain minor injuries.
The other pillion rider, however, relieve the victim of $4,500 in cash, one Samsung tablet, one Blu cellular phone, and some personal documents.
After committing the act, the men made good their escape.
The matter was subsequently reported, and an investigation has been launched.
