– Khan’s 75*, Seepersaud’s 3-16, Bani’s 3-15 instrumental
A select East Coast U-17 team overcame a formidable DCC U-17 team in a 30-over day/night cricket match played last Wednesday at the DCC ground in Georgetown.

DCC elected to bat first after winning the toss, and with both sides boasting several national youth players, the teams were evenly matched in this thrilling encounter.
In the third over, when DCC lost opener Romeo Deonarine to Daniel Goolab with the score on 5-1, the DCC innings was then built on a steady 65-run partnership between Jason Campbell and Jonathan Van Lange, before off-spinner Hemraj Haripresaud dismissed Van Lange for 26.
Having rebuilt their innings, DCC choked midway to move from 70-2 to 84-5. In the end it didn’t take much for the East Coast bowlers to make steady inroads in the DCC batting, to eventually restrict them for 129-8 when their 30 overs were ended.
Nicholas Seepersaud, with 3-16, and Neeran Bani, with 3-15, were the grim reapers of DCC wickets, despite Jason Campbell’s contribution of 33, Inderjeet Nathan’s tally of 29 and Daniel Mootoo’s 17.
In reply, Anthony Khan anchored the East Coast innings with a well-compiled unbeaten 75 (6×4, 3×6) as that team reached their target in the 29th over whilst losing 8 wkts.
