Robbery convict Akeem Edwards, who is accused of killing his fellow prison inmate, will know his fate on Monday when a jury deliberates on the evidence in the case.
Edwards is on trial before Justice Navindra Singh at the High Court in Essequibo for the murder of Teon Smith.
Upon his arraignment, Edwards pleaded not guilty to the charge which stated that on September 14, 2014, he murdered Smith. The murder accused is being represented by Attorney-at-Law George Thomas, while State Counsel Tiffini Lyken is presenting the case for the prosecution.
During the trial, the prosecution called 12 witnesses, the majority of whom were prison officers.
