‘A’ Division Jubilee Futsal set for May 14

Thirteen Guyana Police Force Youth groups will battle for the Commander Hicken’s trophy at the annual ‘A’ Division 10 a-side Jubilee futsal competition on Saturday May 14 at the Police Sports Club ground, Eve Leary.
The under – 14 knockout competition which caters for both boys and girls will kick off at 9 am is usually full of action and this year is set to be no different.
The youth-group teams that are set to compete are Yarrowkabra, Soesdyke, Diamond, Grove, Mocca, Agricola, Riverview, Albouystown, Central Georgetown, Tiger Bay, Sophia, Alberttown, and East Ruimveldt.

Other than the Commander Hicken’s championship trophy there are other trophies to be won for both male and female categories. The Superintendent Anthony Vanderhyden trophy will go to the second placed teams while the superintendent Desiree Fowler Trophies will be for the most disciplined players. The Assistant Superintendent Althea Scipio trophy will go to the tournaments’ most valuable players (MVP’s) and the Sergeant Paula Lewis trophy is for the players who scores the most goals in the fe,ale category with the Chief Inspector Lennox Barrington trophy for the male with the most goals.
Speaking to Guyana Times Spor, the Georgetown Football Association (GFA) President Commander Clifton Hickens said that the annual tournament brought forward this year to coincide with Guyana’s 50th Golden Jubilee celebrations is part of the police ‘A’ Division programme of promoting positive activities for the youths in the communities.
Sponsors of the tournament are Hits & Jams Entertainment, Star Party Rentals, Sandy’s Funeral Home and the Trophy Stall. Tiger Bay Youth Group are the defending champions for both male and female categories.
