A Linden, Region 10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice) man made his initial court appearance Friday on a charge that alleged he trafficked 56.3 grams of marijuana at the Eugene F Correia International Airport, Ogle, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
Jamal Millington, 24, was arrested on Wednesday and charged with one count of possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking. He appeared at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Rochelle Liverpool.
The accused drug trafficker was granted $300,000 bail and is required to lodge his passport with the court pending the hearing and determination of his trial. He was represented by Attorney-at-Law Jevon Cox. The case will continue on April 4.
On Wednesday, Millington, an outgoing passenger, had his luggage searched by ranks from the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) who discovered the marijuana concealed inside two Pringles containers.
As a result, Millington was arrested and escorted to CANU Headquarters where the narcotic was weighed in his presence. He was subsequently charged. (G1)
