Home News Accused killers deny murder charges
Two men accused of murder – Mark Lowchee and Kevin Mohan – appeared virtually before High Court Justice Navindra Singh at the High Court in Demerara on Thursday and pleaded not guilty to separate murder charges.
Lowchee denied the charge which stated that on September 21, 2003, at Georgetown, he murdered Collis De Abreu. His trial begins next Monday.
According to reports, De Abreu, 36, of Fourth Street, Alberttown, Georgetown was shot once to the chest outside of the Blue Iguana nightclub in Georgetown.
A wanted bulletin had been issued for Lowchee since 2003. He was, however, apprehended by the Police only in 2017.
Meanwhile, Kevin Mohan, also known as ‘Chucky’, was arraigned for the murder of his 48-year-old aunt. It is alleged that on September 4, 2016, at Cummings Lodge, Greater Georgetown, he murdered Anita Mohan during a robbery.
He pleaded not guilty.
Based on reports, Anita’s battered body was discovered in a pool of blood in the kitchen of her Lot 315 South East Cummings Lodge, Greater Georgetown. An autopsy performed revealed that Anita had sustained a chop wound to her head and one in the vicinity of her temple, along with a stab wound to her chin and one in her mouth.
A portion of her tongue was severed, and she was strangled. (G1)
