Alberttown man dies in 2-vehicle collision 

Dead: Emmanuel Paul

A two-vehicle collision along the Goedverwaghting Railway Embankment Road, East Coast Demerara, in the wee hours of Wednesday has left a 28-year-old man dead.
The deceased man has been identified as Emmanuel Paul, also called “Manie Suru”, from Sixth Street, Alberttown, Georgetown.
Based on reports received, Paul was driving along the Goedverwaghting Access Road when he allegedly failed to stop at the approach to the Railway Embankment Road and ended up in the path of a truck that was, at the time, being driven by a 40-year-old Corentyne, Berbice, resident.

As a result of the collision, Paul was pinned in the wreckage and had to be recovered by members of the Guyana Fire Service, who were summoned to the scene.
He was pronounced dead at the scene, while the truck driver, who had traces of alcohol in his system, was arrested. Investigations are ongoing.
