Albion advances to Semifinals, Tucber park moves on to final 8

BCB/Fitness 53 Under-17 Knockout Cup
The 2018 cricket season of the Berbice Cricket Board continues with play in the Fitness 53/Ramnaresh Sarwan Inter Club Under-17 Tournament last Thursday. Albion advanced to the tournaments semifinals by defeating Achievers Cricket Club of West Coast Berbice by three wickets, while Tucber Park Cricket Club stormed into the Quarterfinals when they crushed Kendall’s Union of No. 19 Village by 10 wickets.
Playing at the Canje Welfare Centre ground No.19 was sent in to bat and were bowled out for 36 off 14.1 overs with S. Khalall scoring 10. National Under-17 pacer Gevon Schultz took four wickets for 11 and received support from Rommel Reteimah 2 for 7, Daniel Dharamdat 2 for 2 and Zeymul Ramsammy 2 for 10. Dharamdat then returned to bat to score and unbeaten 18 alongside Tamoi Leason 11 not out for Tucber Park to meet the total in 6 overs.
Achievers who opted to bat first in their Quarterfinal match against Albion were restricted to a meager 119 all-out in 31 overs. With Collis Noble hitting a quick fire 37 with five boundaries, while Fraser 23 (2×4, 2×6) and Daniel Ramoutar 16 offered support. Govran Ramesh then bagged 6/20 from his 8.3 overs with his left arm spin, off spinner Leon Cecil 2/9 off 6 overs. Sarwan Chaitnarine and Hemendra Gurdyal very aggressive innings provided them with an opening stand of 75 not out, later on Chaitnarine was dismissed for 37 followed by six wickets falling. With seven wickets down they reached the required total in 21 overs ending on 120-7, to secure their spot in the semifinals. Quacy Auldar 3 for 39 and Adrian Samaroo 3 for 20 was not enough to stop Albion.
Tucber Park Cricket Club will meet power house Blairmont in their quarterfinal with the winner going on to play Albion in the semis.
Defending Berbice Under-17 Champions, Rose Hall Town Bakewell are already in the final which is scheduled for next Thursday at a venue to be named.
