Albion savaged Rose Hall Canje in a match in the Banks Beer 2-Day 1st Division Cricket Tournament played on Sunday in the latter team’s proverbial backyard — the Rose Hall Community Centre Ground in East Canje, Berbice.
The Albion win — by an innings and 216 runs — came just before lunch on the second and final day of the match. Rose Hall Canje, resuming on their overnight score of one run for one wicket in batting a second time as they faced a first innings deficit of 280, were sent packing for 64.
Albion’s Test leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo picked up five for 11, to end with match figures of 9 for 19. His skipper Veerasammy Permaul supported with three wickets, while fellow left-arm-spinners Gudakesh Motie and Kelvin Umroa each picked up a wicket.
Final scores in the match were: Albion, 350 for 6 declared; Rose Hall Canje, 70 and 64. The win was Albion’s second in as many matches in this tournament.
