Albouystown house destroyed by fire

Two brothers have been left homeless after their two-storey wooden house located at James and King Edward Streets, Albouystown was destroyed by fire at about 13:00h on Monday.

Reports are that the fire completely destroyed that house and damaged two houses that are nearby.
Persons in the area related to this publication that the house was occupied by two brothers, and the fire had started in the lower flat of the building, but quickly spread.
Based on information received, the occupants were unable to save anything, since the fire spread rapidly.
One of the houses that were damaged is owned by the brothers’ aunt, who said she realised that her house was also on fire only when she heard persons shouting for her.
Neighbours have said the Guyana Fire Service arrived on scene about 15 minutes after the fire started, but were unable to save the home. They were, however, able to stop the blaze from destroying the nearby homes.
No one was injured in the incident, and the GFS have since launched an investigation into the origin of the fire.
