ALL PRACTICE/FITNESS SESSIONS SUSPENDED INDEFINITELY

UG Trojans responds to COVID-19…

In response to the recent outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in Guyana, the University of Guyana Trojans Cricket Team has suspended all its practice and fitness sessions until further notice.
The Trojans Team recognizes the severity of the pandemic and the imperative of all stakeholders being safe; thus, in a statement released to the media, Trojans’ management has said: “We encourage you to take every precaution to protect yourself and your loved ones”.

Trojans’ Coach, Kenroy Joseph

The statement further detailed: “To the Guyanese Public at large, we plead with you to practise the necessary measures of social distancing, sanitizing and quarantining, as the relevant authorities try to nip (progression of the virus) in the bud.
“To our brothers and sisters in the healthcare profession, we salute you and appreciate your kind service as we battle the virus (now and in the foreseeable future). As this off-season period is upon us, we ask our players to continue self-training in fitness and areas of the game that need to be worked on. Remember to grab your vitamins, stay hydrated, and stay inside. If you or anyone you know are experiencing symptoms of the virus, please contact the Ministry’s Hotline immediately.”
Speaking with Trojans’ head coach Kenroy Joseph, this publication asked him about this release, and his response was: “The decision (to suspend all activities) was expected, and is truly appreciated. The safety of my players is paramount, and the COVID-19 is no joke. We, as a team, are taking all necessary precautions to prevent this pandemic. Presently, we are using our WhatsApp Group to motivate everyone to stay indoors and work on our fitness.
“I daily post fitness workouts so they could follow, and ask for videos or pics of them doing it, so as to ensure they are doing it. We, as a team, are asking our country to please follow the prevention guideline so that we can keep the spread of this virus limited. All we can do now is pray so that we can move forward safely, hence we can play cricket again.”
