Anna Catherina business broken into, robbed

Police are investigating a break-and-enter committed on a grocery shop at Anna Catherina Public Road, West Coast Demerara (WCD), during which a quantity of goods and items were stolen.
According to information received, the robbery took place between 21:30h on Tuesday and 04:00h on Wednesday.
Police stated that the owner of the business, Nafiza Samtani, had secured her shop, a wooden and concrete structure attached to the Caribbean Temptation Sports Bar building, and went home.
However, she subsequently received a telephone phone call from the landlord, informing her that her business place had been burglarised.
An assessment of her losses showed that a quantity of alcohol and non-alcoholic beverages valued at $260,000 were stolen along with 50 cartons of cigarettes valued at $200,000; two electrical fans valued at $13,000; five hammocks valued at $20,000; $30,000 worth of snacks and purses valued at $10,000.
Police have questioned several persons – none of whom have been arrested. Investigations are continuing.
