Archery Guyana Represented At Double 720 Qualification (Baltimore)

– DeAbreu, Persaud have good outing

On Saturday 24th August, 2019, two of Archery Guyana members Wayne Gerald DeAbreu and Devin Persaud, participated in the World Archery approved tournament, Double 720 Qualification in Baltimore, Canada.

Under bright clear blue skies, our two Guyanese started the day in Baltimore with the half hour of practice time to sight in their Recurve Bows then started shooting 72 arrows and scoring the first 720 during the morning session which resulted in DeAbreu with a 626 score and Persaud with a 620.
After a break, the afternoon session commenced with the other 72 and that concluded the second 720 round, after which DeAbreu secured 603 and Persaud emerged with a 644 thereby elevating his ranking. Archery Guyana is pleased to report that Devin Persaud is currently ranked 9th in Canada after the top 5 scores are recorded and Wayne DeAbreu is ranked as 17th in Canada.
Current plans and training are ongoing to continue to shoot in the upcoming tournaments to continuously better scores and raise the ranking and ultimately the level of Archery. The Board of Archery Guyana stands behind their two highest ranked Archers as they continue to represent Guyana.
The Double 720 Qualification or Olympic round, 72 arrows are shot at 70m for recurve archers and at 50m for compound archers. & amp; nbsp; The compound archers shoot on a 6 ring, while the recurve archers shoot on a 122cm full target face.Recurve – 122cm Target Face:- 70M for Senior and Junior Men and Women- 60M for Master and Cadet Men and Women- 50M for Cub Men and Women- 30M for Pre-Cub Men and WomenCompound and Para-Archery – 50 cm Target Face:- 50M for Master, Senior, Junior and Cadet Men and Women- 40M for Cub Men and Women- 30 M for Pre-Cub Men and Women.
