Armed bandits rob La Grange family

Two gunmen staged a daring robbery on a La Grange, West Bank Demerara (WBD) family on Wednesday evening.
Based on reports received, housewife Kumarie Persaud, 40, her son Randy Persaud, 21, and daughter Radiya Persaud, 18, all of Lot 84 Independence Street, La Grange, WBD, were at home at about 19:45h when they came under attack from two males, one of whom was carrying a handgun while the other was carrying an axe.
The Police have said that the bandits entered the Persauds’ premises and held Kumarie’s husband Wazir Persaud, 40, at gunpoint. He was ordered to go into the house, and he complied. In the house, the men confronted the other victims and demanded cash and other valuables.
Kumarie, Randy and Radiya were forced into a bedroom, where they were relieved of cash and jewellery. The Police have said that Kumarie was robbed of a pair of gold bangles, an iPhone XR, one black Guess shoulder bag containing $20,000 cash, and other documents, including Identification Cards and receipts books.
Randy was relieved of one Samsung S6 Edge and $25,000 in cash, while Radiya was robbed of one gold ring, one iPhone 6, and one Samsung Galaxy mobile phone. Nothing was taken from Wazir.
After robbing the family, the armed men made good their escape on foot. Soon after the ordeal, a report was made to the Police, and an investigation was launched. The area is being canvassed for surveillance cameras.
