Dervon Semple, a former Linden Traffic Policeman, has been charged with corrupt transaction.
It is alleged that during the month of June 2017, while he was a member of the Guyana Police Force, attached to the Traffic Department, he corruptly collected $14,000 from Antonio Thompson of Amelia’s Ward, Mackenzie, Linden, as a
reward in order to obtain a driver’s licence for him. It is further alleged that he failed to deliver the licence to Thompson. Reports are Thompson made a report at Mackenzie Police Station where an investigation was conducted, and legal advice was sought from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
However, when the case was called late last week at the Linden Magistrate’s Court, Semple was absent. As a result, Magistrate Clive Nurse issued an arrest warrant for him. The case is now set for February 20.
