Assault report leads to ganja bust

A quantity of narcotics was found by Police ranks on Saturday evening at about 19:55h at a house in Hendricks Street, Triumph Front, East Coast Demerara (ECD), as they were responding to a report of an assault.
Ranks from the Beterverwagting (BV) Police Station said they were on mobile Anti-Crime Patrol, when they were detailed to respond to the report of an alleged assault somewhere through Hendricks Street, Triumph.
The ranks immediately ventured to the location where, on arrival, they exited the vehicle and walked into a partially fenced yard situated on the northern side of the street. With the aid of a phone’s light, one of the ranks observed a branch resting on a bulky black plastic bag.

The rank immediately took possession of the bulky plastic bag and examined it, where he discovered 64 transparent zip-lock plastic bags containing leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis.
The cannabis was then taken to the Beterverwagting Police Station where it was photographed and weighed, amounting to 121.73 grams.
Only a week ago, Police arrested a 41-year-old man following the discovery of a quantity of ganja at his Granville Park, East Coast Demerara (ECD) home.
It was reported that between 14:00h and 16:00h, a party of policemen acting on information received, went to the suspect’s home where a search was conducted. During the operation, several transparent plastic wrappers containing the cannabis were found.
The cannabis and the suspect were taken to the Beterverwagting Police Station where the cannabis was weighed and amounted to 204 grams. (G9)
