Baby dropped off dead at GPHC

– Police looking for mother

Police are searching for a woman who allegedly dropped off a dead baby at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC at around 22:00hrs last evening. The unidentified woman is suspected to be the mother of the baby.

According to Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum, following an examination, doctors at

the hospital confirmed that the child had been dead for more than an hour prior to it arriving at the medical facility. However, when they sought to question the woman who had brought the child to the medical institution, she was nowhere around.

The Crime Chief has said that an investigation has been launched and police are working diligently to locate the woman. Unconfirmed reports are that the baby had been electrocuted.
