Baijnauth Sawmills 20/20 draw is today

Upper Corentyne Cricket Association’s (UCCA) Competitions Committee recently announced that the drawing for 2018 Baijnauth Sawmills 20/20 tourney is Thursday December 28 at the Number 73 Cricket Club Ground.
The UCCA is asking that all Captains, team managers and secretaries of each Club attend this drawing which starts at 16:00h. The preliminary round fixture of the competition will further be based on the results of the drawing and as such, clubs are asked to provide a list of 15 players who will represent their respective clubs in the competition.
Secretary of the UCCA, Vadanand Persaud is also asking for clubs to select their best 15 players, since the rules of the competition will not allow clubs to introduce players into the competition who are not on their list.
President of the UCCA, Hamant Jagdeo is optimistic that this competition will be one of a kind in the area, and said that players have much to gain from their participation in these games. He acknowledged the state of cricket in the area and reassured the Clubs that he and his executives will work arduously to ensure the glory days of cricket are returned to the area.
Furthermore, the Association confirmed that a representative from the Guyana Cricket Umpires and Scorers Council will be in attendance to explain the rules of the competition to the representatives of the teams.
The UCCA noted that it is compulsory for Clubs to fall within the boundaries of the Association’s control to attend this drawing, since those who do not attend will be at a definite disadvantage.
Also, it was hinted that an under-17 competition is also expected to commence in the near future which will be used as a measuring stick to select players for trials to the Berbice U17 inter county team. Clubs will be notified shortly of the details of the competition.
