Zeeburg to face Cornelia Ida in WDCA T20 final…

The highly anticipated West Demerara Cricket Association (WDCA) T20 final is all set for action as Zeeburg Sports Club will face off against the Cornelia Ida Cricket Club, as both sides registered wins over the weekend in their semi-final matches at Joe Vieira Park.
Semi-final one saw Zeeburg Sports Club defeat WDCA 50 over champions Independence Cricket Club in what was deemed as a grudge match, as Zeeburg avenged their unfair treatment in the WDCA 50 over semi-final in which they were knocked out without any notification last month.
Winning the toss, Zeeburg elected to bat first as they boosted an impressive batting line-up with the likes of Balgobin, Jeffers and Hubbard. Zeeburg raced to a quick fire 159 in their allotted 20 overs, thanks to the batting efforts of Ushardeva

Richie Looknauth bagged 2-30 and top scored with 37 for CICC

Balgobin who top-scored with 36, Malcolm Hubbard (34), Mark Jeffers (25) and Ronaldo Renee (23). Bowling for Independence CC was inform off spinner Reeaz Esau who walked away with figures of 4-29.
Needing 160 off 120 balls for victory at a net run rate of eight runs per over, Independence succumbed to pressure as they struggled to hold together their innings and eventually being bowled out for 125 in 19.2 overs with V Dhaniarm 31 and S Bissasear 29 proving futile in the run chase. Bowling Zeeburg to victory were Malcom Hubbard 3 for 11, Jamal Gomes 3 for 22 and Ansar Khan 2 for 26.
In semi-final two, Cornelia Ida Cricket Club took on Christ Ambassadors at Joe Vieira Park, winning the toss CICC elected to bat first and were able to post 111 all out in 17.2 overs as Colois Sam 25 (3 sixes), Melroy Alert 19 (1 four & 2 sixes) and

Kenton Boyce 18 (2 sixes) were the top scorers. Bowling for CICC Richard Baker 4-13-3, Muhammad Wazidali 3.2-11-3, Richie Looknauth 4-30-2 and Akshaya Persaud 4-1-4-1.
In reply, CICC eventually chased down the total but not without a fight from Christ Ambassadors, top scoring for CICC were Richie Looknauth 37 (5 fours & 2 sixes), Akshaya Persaud 17 (3 fours), Naveed Alli 15 (3 fours) and Harrinarine Bissondyal 13 not out (1 four and 1 six) as they ended their innings on 113-8 in 16 overs.
CICC will now face off against Zeeburg SC as both inform teams will have something to prove.
