YWCC to host 2 tournaments over the weekend

– Mash Cup 2019 and 5 Overs Tournament

For the first time in their bid to revitalise the club after an absence of two years, the Young Warriors Cricket Club of Cumberland Village, East Canje, Berbice, will host two tournaments in the form of its fundraiser – Mash Cup 2019 – and a one-day five overs per side competition which will be held on February 23 and 24 respectively.
The Mash Cup 2019 will be played on Mashramani Day (a national holiday) and will involve second division teams from the area as no first division cricketer will be allowed. Cash incentives and trophies will be up for grabs along with lots of gate

While the action will continue on February 24 at 09:00h sharp as the home team, Rose Hall Canje, Kendall Union, Number 19, Gangaram, Reliance, Adelphi, Good Banana Land, Edinburgh and Tucber will all battle for supremacy in the epic showdown.
The runners-up will receive $30,000 and a trophy while the man of the match in the final will receive $5000 and a trophy.
The individuals finishing with the most runs and the most wickets in the tournament will receive Tech Gadgets as an incentive.
In addition, players will also have the chance to win special prizes if they are able to hit any of the Stag Beer flags tactically placed around the ground.
The club is encouraging parents and young kids to join the club in an effort to return it to its former glory and produce more cricketers, such as recent West Indies batting star, Shimron Hetmyer.
