Barbados (4-0) and Antigua and Barbuda (3-1) advanced to the FIBA AmeriCup 2029 Pre-Qualifiers Second Round after topping the standings in the Caribbean Pre-Qualifiers, which concluded on Sunday at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH) in Georgetown, Guyana.
Both teams finished atop their respective groups (Antigua and Barbuda in Group A and Barbados in Group B), securing their places in the next stage on the road to the continental tournament.

With both Guyana and Turks and Caicos on the hunt for the qualifying spot in Group A, Antigua and Barbuda crushed Turks and Caicos, 86-57 to grab the qualifying spot.
Xavier Spencer led the charge for Antigua with 27 points while Preston Merrick put up 26. Ethan Taylor was Bermuda’s top scorer with 25 points.
On the other hand, Barbados completed their perfect run in the Caribbean qualifiers on Sunday with a 96-84 victory over St Vincent and the Grenadines.
Kyrone Alexander produced a magnificent 32 points followed by Rasheed Maynard with 22 and Carl Thorpe with 19 to maintain Barbados’s dominance. Shad Thomas put up 16 points for St Vincent.

Barbados and Antigua and Barbuda join Costa Rica, which also advanced to the FIBA AmeriCup 2029 Pre-Qualifiers Second Round after winning the Central American Pre-Qualifiers last March.
Cuba, Jamaica, Nicaragua, and Venezuela will also compete in the next stage after being eliminated in the First Round of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 Americas Qualifiers.
The South American representative has not yet been determined.
