Barrow handed 6-match ban over U17 misconduct

Western Tigers player Nyron Barrow has been suspended for six matches by the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) following an incident during his club’s U17 Youth Ensemble Competition match against Fruta Conquerors on September 19.
The GFF, which announced the sanctions on September 26, also fined Western Tigers GY$20,000 for failing to adequately restrain and control its player.
Barrow’s suspension covers competitive fixtures across all competitions under the Federation’s jurisdiction and will remain in place until he has served the full six-match ban.

According to the GFF, the incident involved dissent towards match officials and reckless conduct after Barrow was dismissed. The Federation reviewed the referee’s official report and the circumstances surrounding the incident before reaching its decision.
It determined that his behaviour represented a serious breach of the standards expected in GFF-sanctioned competitions and was inconsistent with the discipline, respect and sporting conduct required of players.
The Federation reminded clubs, players and team officials that respect for match officials, opponents and the rules of the game is essential to football’s integrity. It also urged everyone involved in its competitions to maintain appropriate standards of discipline and fair play.
The GFF said it would continue enforcing its disciplinary regulations to support a safe, respectful and professionally managed football environment.
