Bartica Easter Regatta Female Football: AX Galaxy and Rivers View United to clash in tomorrow’s final

History will be created tomorrow night when the first female Regatta Football champions would be crowned. The four-team knockout tournament will conclude with the grand final between AX Galaxy FC and Rivers View United.

In the semi-finals which took place on Wednesday night last at the Bartica Community Centre Ground, AX Galaxy stormed to an exciting 8-3 win over Lazio FC, while Rivers View United edged into the final by needling Potaro Strikers FC.
Anna Charles was the heroine of her club’s triumph over Potaro Strikers with a 20th-minute effort that stood tall for the remainder of the encounter.
The AX Galaxy vs Lazio match turned out to be a goal fest, as 11 goals were scored at either end of the pitch on a rainy night.
When the final whistle was blown by the Referee, the score read: AX Galaxy 8, Lazio FC 3. All three of the losing side’s goals were scored by Cristy Thomas in the 4th, 42nd, and 46th minutes.

An own goal from Lazio’s Valaria Leon opened proceedings for AX Galaxy, which ran riot thereafter.
Blasting a hat-trick each was Lisa Pereira (21st, 39th, 43rd) and Joshana Gonsalves, who rocked the nets in the 32nd, 34th, and 55th minutes. The other goal was converted by Rennea Fordyce in the 21st minute.
Tomorrow’s female championship match will be played immediately after the male third-place game which kicks off at 17:00hrs. The male final will follow the historic female final.
