A 32-year-old male of Third Avenue Bartica, Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni), was on Sunday arrested after he was seen attempting to dispose of a bag containing cannabis during a raid.
Based on reports received, a team of Police ranks were conducting a raid in Third Avenue Bartica when the suspect was seen throwing a black plastic bag over the neighbour’s fence.
Swift actions by the Police would have led to the bag being retrieved and upon checking, a total of 132 transparent ziplock plastic bags containing the ganja was found.
As such, the suspect was shown the illegal substance, cautioned, arrested, and escorted to the Bartica Police Station where the suspected narcotics was weighed in his presence.
He remains in custody pending charges.
