Bartica teen critical after losing control of motorcycle

A teenager was admitted to the Intensive Care Until (ICU) of the Georgetown Public Hospital in a serious condition after he reportedly lost control of the motorcycle he was riding on Sunday along Beacon Trail, Four Miles, Potaro, Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni).
Injured is 19-year-old Leon Chand of Mongrippa Hill, Bartica. Based on reports received, on the day in question at about 15:30h, Chand and pillion rider, 21-year-old Vijay Khan of Bartica were reportedly travelling down a slope on the motorcycle when Chand allegedly lost control.
However, to avert danger, Khan reportedly jumped off the motorcycle bearing registration number CK 4360 but Chand and the motorcycle ended up on the southern side of the trail where he sustained injuries to the head and abrasions about the body.
He was picked up in an unconscious state and taken to the Bartica Regional Hospital where he was treated and later referred to Georgetown to seek further medical attention. Police have confirmed that Chand is listed in a stable but serious condition.
Khan, on the other hand, was unharmed. The motorcycle, however, was extensively damaged. An investigation has been launched.
