Bartica turns to ‘experience’ to boost female football programme
As preparations intensify for the Bartica FA Female Team’s participation in the GFF-Kashif & Shanghai Female Super-16 Tournament, two of the town’s most experienced coaches have stepped in to help boost the female developmental programme.
Christopher George and Calmeth Young have both represented Bartica and Guyana with distinction in the game of football. As a result of the amazing talent they have each displayed during their playing years, both men have served on BFA teams and on the Guyana Men’s National Team.
Having educated themselves in regard to the technicalities of coaching the game, they have, over the years, shared their experience and knowledge with young players. Now the two football maestros have teamed up to help the Bartica Female Programme.
While the immediate focus is on the team’s upcoming engagement in the GFF-K&S Female Super-16 Tournament, the Bartica Football Association is looking further down the road towards a structured, continuous programme for the development of female football through its Academy Training Center.
To date, more than 30 young women are involved in the training sessions.
