Battle for round-of-16 spots heats up

The final round of group matches in the sixth annual Milo Schools football tournament will continue today with teams looking to finish on a high to secure spots in the round-of-sixteen leg of the tournament.
With the competition taking a break on Saturday due to the Republic Anniversary celebrations, some the lifeline battles will erupt with Friendship Secondary tackling Carmel Secondary from noon. Both teams will be hoping to notch a win after facing some crushing defeats.

Some more intensifying action is anticipated today at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue

South Ruimveldt Secondary and Buxton Youth Development who follow from 13:30h should be an up-tempo encounter as South seek for the next spot.
The final two matches pit Queen’s College against Queenstown Secondary from 15:00h then a duel of Masters Academy and Lodge Secondary from 16:30h.
The under-18 tournament which is a collaboration with the Ministry of Public Health is played under the theme “there is excuse for violence”. The top prize for teams is 500,000 which goes towards a school project of their choice.
