Female cricketers from the Ancient County recently received a boost when Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) President Hilbert Foster rolled out some financial stipends to assist the players ahead of the upcoming Cricket West Indies (CWI) Female Tournament which bowls off in Jamaica from June 10-25.
Foster handed over GY$90,000 to the nine female national players, as they will each receive US$50 as a means of assisting them during their stay in Jamaica. Back in April, the BCB provided GY$200,000 to the Under-15 and Under-19 female players and would early next month provide stipends to the Berbice Under-17 and Under-19 players.
Among those ladies who received the fiscal boost were Katana Mentore, Tremayne Smartt, Sabrina Munroe, Shemaine Campbelle, Erva Giddings, Shabika Gajnabi, Melanie Henry, Plaffiana Millington and Sheneta Grimmond.
