BCB/KSM Investment 50 Overs 1st Division Tournament… Anderson, the Sinclairs lead RHT NAMILCO Thunderbolt Flour into semis

National players Kevlon Anderson, Kevin Sinclair and Junior Sinclair spearheaded Rose Hall Town NAMILCO Thunderbolt Flour to a comfortable 183-run victory over the Berbice Police Team in the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB)/KSM Investment Inc 50-over tournament.
The emphatic victory secured a semi-final berth for the team in the tournament after an easy victory last Saturday over Upper Corentyne at the Number 69 Ground to reach the quarter-finals.
Playing at the Area H Ground in sweltering conditions, the home team won the toss and elected to take first strike. They were rocked early when West Indies Test player Kevin Sinclair was brilliantly caught at slip off the bowling of off-spinner Rocky Hutson for 8 in the first over with the score at 8 for 1. National senior player Junior Sinclair and national Under-16 player Leon Reddy then added 103 for the second wicket in 16 overs before Reddy was run-out for a well-played 35, featuring five fours.

Junior Sinclair did well with bat and ball

Junior Sinclair was then caught at the long-on boundary for 69 at 127 for 3 in the 20th over. Junior’s innings contained two sixes and five fours. Anderson later contributed a classy 74 with four fours and three maximums, and was supported by former national player Eon Hooper, who scored an even fifty. National youth player Raffel McKenzie added 22 as Rose Hall Town NAMILCO Thunderbolt Flour ended their innings on 304 all-out, off 50 overs.
Hooper and Anderson added 60 for the eighth wicket. Hooper struck one six and five fours in his responsible knock. The best bowlers for the lawmen were Hutson with 3 for 61 from 9 overs and left-arm spinner Joel Seitaram, claiming 2 for 46 from 10 overs.
Needing to score 305 runs from their allotted 50 overs to secure their first-ever First-Division victory over Rose Hall Town, the visitors were given a good opening stand of 53 in eight overs by the attacking Vishal Williams and Aldy Grant before 14-year-old left-arm spinner Jayden Grant trapped Grant leg before wicket for 23.
Kevin Sinclair then dismissed Ravindra Beharry for nought with his off spin as the lawmen slipped to 55 for 2. They never recovered as Sinclair spun webs around the remaining batters. He dismissed Vishal Williams, formerly of the Port Mourant Cricket Club, for a well-played 33, Simeon Gaffoor for 6, Philserg Wilburg for 38, Leroy Williams for 3, and Paul James for 2 to bowl out Police for 121 in 25.3 overs. The talented Sinclair ended with 6 for 31 from 9 overs while he received support mainly from fellow off-spinner Junior Sinclair with 3 for 15 (3.3 overs).
The victory ensured the powerful Rose Hall Town NAMILCO Thunderbolt Flour team ended as winners of Group A.
