B&E lands man in court

Eric Abrico, of Lot 145 Nonpareil, East Coast Demerara, was slapped with an attempted felony and appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts on Friday.
The 35-year-old man appeared before Magistrate Faith McGusty and denied the charge which stated that on November 16, 2019, at Ruimveldt, Greater Georgetown, he broke and entered the dwelling home of Maryann Moore. The prosecution is contending that at about 20:55h, the Virtual Complainant was in bed when she saw someone’s hand in her house. She sprang up and confronted the man who then jumped onto the veranda and made good his escape. The Police Prosecutor objected to bail on the grounds of the prevalence of the offence and penalty it attracts. It was highlighted that the defendant was previously convicted.
The Magistrate, nevertheless, released him on $50,000 bail and the case will continue on December 18.
