La Penitence man jailed for fraud

A Middle Road, La Penitence, Georgetown man was on Wednesday jailed for two years after he was found guilty of fraud.
Compton Beckles, 58, of Lot 166 Middle Road, La Penitence, was jointly charged with Julianne Faulcher, a 36-year-old nurse of the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC). However, Faulcher was found not guilty of the charge when the trial was completed at Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
When they were initially charged, the duo both denied the allegation that on November 22, 2018, at Georgetown, with intent to defraud, they obtained from Shaheed Ali $2.3 million by pretending that they were in a position to sell him a BMW motor vehicle, knowing same to be false.
