Beacon FC hit seven as GFA Youth Ensemble U13 League kicks off

The Georgetown Football Association (GFA) Youth Ensemble Under-13 League got underway on Wednesday, May 27, at the National Training Centre (NTC), Providence, East Bank Demerara, with Beacon Football Club (FC), Vurlon Mills Academy and Black Pearl FC securing opening-day victories in an entertaining round of fixtures.
A total of five matches were contested in the competition, which is being played in halves of 30 minutes, as several young players made bright starts to the tournament.
Beacon FC produced the biggest win of the day after defeating Pele FC 7-2. Emanuel Alphonso opened the scoring in the 17th minute before Nathan Melville added another in the 28th.
Isco Grumble then led the charge with a hat-trick, finding the back of the net in the 32nd, 34th and 39th minutes. Neymar Tullock scored in the 52nd minute, while Jamal Imhoff completed the scoring in the 58th.
Pele FC’s goals came through Tafari Softleigh in the 42nd minute and Malachi Cumberbatch in the 56th.
Camptown FC and Police FC Youth Academy shared the points in a 2-2 draw. Aaron Lall gave Camptown FC the lead in the 12th minute, but Joshua Daniels equalised for Police FC Youth Academy six minutes later.
Jayden Sargeant restored Camptown’s advantage in the 28th minute before Chavez Oliver netted the equaliser for Police in the 36th minute.

The goalscorers for Beacon FC

Vurlon Mills Academy recorded a comfortable 3-0 win over Fruta Conquerors FC. Kareme Welcome opened the scoring in the 18th minute before Kael Beckles doubled the lead in the 36th.
Emilia Barett then added another in the 52nd minute to become the first female player to score in the Georgetown Football Association Youth Ensemble Under-13 League.
Meanwhile, Riddim Squad FC and Western Tigers FC battled to a scoreless draw in a tightly contested encounter.
Black Pearl FC later edged Eastveldt FC 2-1 in the final match of the day. Azel Lewis handed Black Pearl the lead in the 35th minute before Adon Jones equalised for Eastveldt in the 53rd.
However, Jadon Edwards struck one minute later to seal victory for Black Pearl FC.
The competition will continue on Saturday, May 30, at the same venue with more Under-13 action, while the Under-15 league is set to commence on Sunday, May 31, also at the National Training Centre in Providence.
