“Super We” initiative to be rolled out as ExxonMobil GSL preparation ramps up

ExxonMobil Guyana GSL Director Jamie Stewart

The Guyana National Stadium at Providence, East Bank Demerara (EBD), will once again be ground zero, where five T20 giants will battle in pursuit of one trophy.
The third ExxonMobil Guyana Global Super League (GSL) T20 is scheduled for July 23 to August 1, where defending champions Guyana Amazon Warriors will look to defend their title and home turf.
With the tournament drawing near and preparation amplifying, ExxonMobil GSL Director Jamie Stewart shared a new initiative that drives marketing for this year’s tournament.
Stewart divulged in a press briefing on Thursday, “Cricket, as we all know, is in the blood of every Guyanese person; it’s part of the culture, part of the heritage. We really wanted to use GSL to celebrate that. GSL is a homegrown event; it’s created out of Guyana for Guyana, projecting a progressive Guyana to the world.
He continued, “We really wanted to celebrate the people of Guyana and their passion for cricket, so we’re launching a new campaign over the weekend, which is titled ‘Super League, Super We’, which celebrates the resilience and the love of cricket of all the people of Guyana.”

The Box Office was busy on Thursday as patrons cashed in on the ExxonMobil GSL and Republic Bank CPL bundle ticket deal

Quizzed on when the other teams in the GSL will reveal their rosters, Stewart hinted at some surprises, especially for the local franchise.
“So, the other squads will be announced shortly. I think the Warriors are close to having finalised their squad. I don’t want to spill the beans for them; I’ll let them announce their squad, but they seem to have a very strong squad, with a couple of surprises there too,” Stewart revealed.
“The Vipers, at the moment, are the only team that announced their squad. Some of you may have seen, which I think will delight a lot of the Guyanese fans, Chris Green has been named captain, so he’ll be back in Guyana, unfortunately on the other side. But you know, he has a strong relationship with Guyana and the fans here, so I’m sure they’re looking forward to seeing him again.”
The GSL Director, alongside the tournament media manager Avenash Ramzan, went on to detail the new competition format for 2026.
“We’ve got a lot to look forward to. We’ve slightly changed the format; we’ve introduced an elimination final. So, three of the five competing teams will make it to the postseason. We feel that if they’re flying all this way to play in Guyana, we should give them as much of an opportunity to win the big prize as we can. Once again, it’s a million dollars in prize money on offer, so the teams are definitely coming to win,” Stewart explained.
Ramzan later added, “As Jamie mentioned, 12 games; those matches will be happening over nine days. There are three double-header days, and the format is quite simple. Teams play each other once, and at the end of that phase, the team at the top of the table advances straight to the final, and then the second- and third-place teams will play in that playoff to decide which team will be the other finalist.”
In addition, it was announced that the ongoing ExxonMobil GSL and Republic Bank CPL bundle ticket deal will soon be extended to online buyers.
Stewart disclosed, “What I can say, sort of breaking news, is that on Monday we’re aware that it’s a long drive from places like Berbice and Linden and whatnot; we will make that same offer available online. So, that’s available from Monday.”
Defending champions Guyana Amazon Warriors, PSL’s Lahore Qalandars, MLC’s San Francisco Unicorns, ILT20’s Desert Vipers and Big Bash’s Perth Scorchers will clash for the ultimate prize in this year’s ExxonMobil Guyana GSL T20.
Additionally, the tournament’s corporate supporters thus far include ENet, Demerara Bank, XM Rum, Nagico Insurances, Beharry Group of Companies – Champion brand, Queensway Security and New GPC Inc’s Limacol.
