West Indies Women made a strong start to their 2026 Ireland Women’s Tri-Nation Series campaign with an impressive eight-wicket victory over hosts Ireland Women at Clontarf Cricket Club in Dublin on Wednesday.
After winning the toss and electing to bowl, the Caribbean side produced a disciplined performance in the field to restrict Ireland to 103 for seven from their allotted 17 overs. Qiana Joseph led the bowling effort with figures of three for eight from two overs, while Zaida James and Jannaza Claxton provided valuable support with two wickets apiece.
Ireland’s innings was anchored by Orla Prendergast, who top-scored with 25 from 22 deliveries, while Lean Paul added 21 and Amy Hunter chipped in with 11. However, regular wickets prevented the hosts from building momentum against a sharp West Indies attack.

In reply, the visitors chased down the target comfortably, reaching 104 for two in just 11.3 overs. Star batter Hayley Matthews once again demonstrated her class with a superb unbeaten 82 from only 44 balls, an innings laced with powerful stroke-play and confident running between the wickets. Matthews also contributed with the ball, taking one for 20, earning her the Player of the Match award.
Stafanie Taylor supported well with 10 not out, while Qiana Joseph added a quick six during the successful chase. Ireland bowlers Ava Canning and Arlene Kelly claimed a wicket each, but they were unable to slow the West Indies captain’s charge.
The convincing victory gives West Indies Women early momentum in the tournament as they prepare for a quick turnaround. Their next encounter is scheduled for today against Pakistan Women at 11:00h, where they will look to continue their winning form and strengthen their position in the series standings.
