Beaton, Torrington, Nedd flatten MSC

GCA/New York Tri State 50 U-19
Nkosie Beaton’s vicious ton flattened Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC) by a mammoth 213 runs, as Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) were crowned champions of the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA)/ New York Tri State 50 U-19 Tournament.

Qumar Torrington

In a one-sided affair played Sunday, the eventual champs playing at home, brutalized the MSC bowlers as they racked up a massive 363 all out in 46.5 overs, thanks mainly to Beaton’s majestic 120 off 110 balls with 17 eye-catching fours and three sixes.
West Indies youth pacer Qumar Torrington continues to flex his all-round abilities as he punched a 54-ball 93, sadly missing out on a well-deserved ton but not before hammering six fours and eight huge sixes, while West Indies U19 spinner Ashmead Nedd showed his class with the bat during his knock of 62.
Medium-pacer Ntini Permaul was the pick of the MSC bowlers with 4-59 while Jeremiah Scott, Malteenoes top-scorer with 59, earlier grabbed 2-49. MSC’s batting outing was a complete disaster as they were kept to an even 150 in 32 over with just some fire from the half-centurion Scott and meagre resistance from Tuen Hick who hit five boundaries in his 43.

Ashmead Nedd

Windies U19 off-spinner Sagar Hertheramani was again the tormentor with figures of 4-19 while Nedd duly supported with 3-28 and Beaton, the hero of the match capping things off by claiming 2-17 from his handy off-spin.
Earlier, it was Beaton who shouldered the responsibility of aiding his team’s quest for a huge total, after he looked well to score his fifty off 70 balls. He upped the ante however, The centurion and Nedd then teamed up to further frustrate the MSC bowlers as they weighed in with record lower-order partnership, sharing 122 for the 7th wicket.
After Nedd departed, Torrington then came to the middle and imposed himself as he shared a record 8th wicket157-run partnership with Beaton. Torrington’s fifty was brisk as he reached his milestone in just 30 balls as his partner notched up his three figure score off 110 deliveries.
