Beautician charged over derogatory FB posts

A well-known beautician who has been accused of posting derogatory remarks about a local singer has found herself being arraigned in Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan’s Georgetown court on Wednesday.

Singer Kwasi Edmondson
Charged: Onika Pompey

Onika Pompey, 32, has pleaded not guilty to a charge which states that between October 29 and November 8, 2021, she posted, via Facebook, derogatory statements about singer Kwasi Edmondson, who is a former Soca Monarch.
Pompey was ordered to post $200,000 bail, and was instructed to report to the Brickdam Police Station’s Gender-based Unit on the first and last Friday of every month until the completion of her trial.
Her matter continues on April 27.
Back in July 2020, Pompey had received an $800,000 settlement from Lolita Callendar, the make-up artist who was found guilty of causing her grievous bodily harm.
Callendar, popularly known as “Lola Doll”, was found guilty of an offence committed on April 6, 2018 at Leopold Street, Georgetown.
It was reported that the two women, who were once friends, were involved in a misunderstanding which resulted in a scuffle, during which Callendar bit Pompey several times, and pulled out her hair. Pompey had demanded the sum to fix her “edges” and offset other damages caused by the fight between them. (G1)
