Belle Vue defeat St Cuthbert’s in T20 encounter

Belle Vue Sports Club of the West Side battled St. Cuthbert’s Mission in a thrilling T20 encounter played last Sunday in St Cuthbert’s Mission; and, thanks to Vice Captain Dyal Rajpat, who played a handy unbeaten knock of 35,emerged victorious by 6 wickets, with 21 balls to spare.

Having won the toss, St Cuthbert’s batted first and posted 139-8 in their 20 overs, showing great control of the proceedings although Belle Vue managed to chip away at their batting to set themselves a modest total for victory.
Their top-scorer was Timothy Andrews, whose 30 not out included 2×4 and 3×6. Avinash Poonsammy contributed 27 not out (2×4, 1×6), Raydon Austin, 24 (1×4, 2×6); and 21 (2×4, 1×6) came from Shavez (only name given).
Safraz Baksh, Dev Seepersaud and Lucian Sam of the Belle Vue Sports Club each bagged 2 wickets, while Dyal Rajpat and Colin Boucher each took one wicket.
The highly anticipated chase saw Belle Vue reply with 144-4, made in 16.3 overs. The visitors made light work of the St Cuthbert’s total as they were always in control of the game.
They were led by Vice Captain Dyal Rajpat, who made 35 not out (1×4, 4×6), and under-17 player Alex Parag, who made a quick 28 not out (2×4, 3×6). Captain Randy Ramrup also contributed a solid 26 (2×4, 1×6), and Ryan Seecharran supported with 21 (1×6).
Bowling for St. Cuthbert’s, Rahul (only name given) bagged 2 wickets, while Ronnie Simon and Timothy Andrews each took one wicket.
After the cricket match, Belle Vue boys put on a show by playing the Pakuri Boys in a game of football. The Pakuri Boys won that contest 6-3.
