Berbice man chopped during brawl at body workshop

A 30-year-old man of Main Street Cumberland, East Canje, Berbice, Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne), is nursing a chop wound to his right upper triceps area after he was attacked by another man on Tuesday.
The incident reportedly occurred along Main Street, Cumberland, East Canje, Berbice, by a 42-year-old man who is now in Police custody.
Police stated that at about 13:35h, the now injured man and suspect were at a body workshop when an argument broke out between them. It was that time, the victim armed himself with a piece of iron and the suspect pulled out a cutlass from his vehicle.
Police stated that the now injured man armed himself with a piece of brick and pelted same in the suspect’s direction, which connected with the front window screen of the suspect’s canter, causing it to damage. In retaliation, the 42-year-old man dealt the victim one chop to his right upper triceps
The matter was reported to the Reliance Police Station. The injured man was taken to the New Amsterdam Hospital where he was treated for his injuries.
The suspect was arrested pending investigations.
